Ralph, Daily Kos went offline last night at 6 p.m. Pacific Time and was down for about 15 hours. We did this so our tech team could implement a major upgrade to the site’s infrastructure. Nothing has changed in the way the site works from your end, but the site today is much stronger than it was yesterday. Think of it as fixing the foundation of your house—It takes a lot of time and money, and you don’t really see any changes, but your house is much sturdier when you’re done. This infrastructure upgrade was crucial for our tech team as we prepare to launch a new version of the site. The tech team has been working on the new site for more than a year and a half, and I can’t wait for you to see it—but it’s not done yet. Launching a new version of the site in the year ahead is critical to our long-term plan to continue growing Daily Kos. Can you chip in $5 to help us finish and launch the new version of Daily Kos? The new site is gorgeous and powerful. It provides new tools to activists and writers on the site, and makes it easier than ever to engage new people visiting Daily Kos. Growing the Daily Kos community—and the progressive movement in general—is essential. A bigger community gives us a bigger platform to lift up progressive heroes, hold Democrats accountable, and expose Republican lies. Three times as many people are coming to Daily Kos now compared to only two years ago. More people visit Daily Kos each month than visit the websites of MSNBC.com, the Wall Street Journal, NBC, ABC News, CBS News, and a host of other major media outlets. But we have to keep growing in order to win. Wall Street and the Koch brothers have billions—we can only fight back with more people. Please, if you’re able, chip in $5 right now to help us finish upgrading Daily Kos. Thank you and keep fighting, P.S. Daily Kos doesn’t rely only on ad revenue to keep things running anymore. We also rely on you, our readers. That makes us more responsive to the things you want, and it’s why we’re working so hard to make sure the new site is both easier to use and more powerful a tool for those who use it. So, please chip in $5 if you can. |
