This is it, Ralph. Tuesday is election day in the NRA recalls of two Colorado Democrats and both races are neck-and-neck. Can you chip in $3 to Democrats John Morse and Angela Giron, the two Democrats targeted by the NRA, to help the get out the vote in these final two days?
The NRA pushed for these recalls. They flooded these races with big money attack ads, kicking in $350,000 according to their last spending report. They said that winning in Colorado would cause a “wave of fear” to wash across state legislatures nationwide—paralyzing any new gun laws at the state level. But then something amazing happened. The Daily Kos community stepped up and, with the help of 12,906 contributors nationwide, we’ve almost matched the NRA dollar-for-dollar in these races. Democrats are leading three-to-one in the early voting period, but election day turnout is expected to be anemic and both campaigns are getting ready to make their final get out the vote expenditures. Simply put, these elections could come down to just a few votes on either side. Help beat the NRA in their own recalls: Chip in $3 right now. Keep fighting, P.S. We have a chance to beat the NRA’s big moneyed attacks with two people-powered campaigns. We can send a message that America is ready for common sense gun legislation—and we’re not afraid of the NRA anymore. So please chip in $3 now. |
In Detroit Bankruptcy
Ingham County Circuit Judge Rosemarie Aquilina ruled Friday afternoon that Detroit’s bankruptcy filing is “unconstitutional” and must be withdrawn.
The ruling, came after lawyers representing the city’s pension funds won an emergency hearing to block the bankruptcy filing.
Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette said the state will now request a hearing with the Michigan Court of Appeals.

Neigh Savers Foundation, Inc.WISHING YOU A WONDERFUL SUMMER from your friends at Neigh Savers Foundation.
Instead of holding a summer BBQ fundraiser we would like to raise funds online. In other words, the donation you would have spent for a ticket should go instead to the Neigh Savers Sanctuary Horses. Please go to our website at www.neighsavers.com and make a donation today through our PayPal link.
In other news, Neigh Savers has had some fun along the way as we’ve placed some really nice horses this year. (Cottonwood) Cash has gone to live with another NS horse and two young ladies who think he is the cat’s meow. Their mom is already thinking dressage training with lots of trail rides, too. As shown at left Kirra and Cash are already the best of friends and nearly inseparable.
Luke was adopted and is well on his way to being a dream horse for his new owner. Neigh Savers’ own Rachel Satterfield-Masen did a wonderful job of documenting Luke’s journey from week one to fourteen and her dedication and consistent video updates are surely the reason Luke was snapped up in short order. According to Katie Sue Luke is now one very spoiled horse and the love of her life.
In the meantime, Neigh Savers continues to accept new horses while working with longer term rehab cases as well. All three horses with our Sonoma team have quite a few fans. Lucky Culprit has his own entourage, but Dixie has her own set of devotees, too. It’s hard not to love a pretty little bay mare with a definite opinion about most things. Queen of Paris is the Queen of her Realm and through the excellent farrier work performed by our Karen MacDonald (to the amazement of even our vets) Paris has come back from a severe case of laminitis. At Kutchera Ranch, Fire Break (The Dude) has his own faithful followiing and we welcome both our new girls Party in Excess (Leila) and Upsized (Pippa) to Franklin Canyon Stables. Weekly blogs on their training and progress are written and posted by Rachel Masen. You can access the blogs from our webpage or Facebook. At Bear Creek Eddie (Edit This) and Carabella (Queen of Blades) continue to make progress. Eddie is being ridden now and Carabella is on her way there with just about a month of rehab remaining. In Somis the newly arrived geldings Georgie (Gatheratthealter) and Thunder (Canyon) have joined Maggie (Magical Nature) and Sara (Bucks a Smoken). These two geldings are in rehab and will be with us for about six months before we can consider adoptiong them so we do need your help. We are selling Canter Wines in honor of our rescued horses by adopter Tahlia Fischer who is fostering TC (Turbulent Creek) and has adopted Adam (Suances). 25% of every bottle sold goes straight to Neigh Savers. If you like wine and would like to support us (the wine labels feature our horses) please go tohttp://tamfi.wordpress.com/
We thank you for your past support and hope we can count on you to make even a small donation for our summer campaign. If you know us by now you realize we do not inundate you with emails and pleas not on a daily, weekly or even monthly basis. Save your gas and and your time to attend a function and make a virtual donation instead…..it will help us so very much.
On behalf of the Board of Directors and our nearly 40 volunteers we thank you!
